I have been doing some blog searching, Pinterest finding for organizing and decorating my classroom. I am one of those teachers that hangs as many anchor charts as I possibly can. I have had only a little luck getting things to actually stay on the walls, and I guess at my new school were not allowed to use masking tape. Wahhh! It was ugly anyways, I suppose!
I have decided that I am not doing a "theme" really. I just want to keep things clean and organized. Perhaps even a little girly of feminine (which is totally not who I am!). I have been on an antique/vintage/country kick all summer, and it is going to spill into my classroom! During my blog searching, I checked out The First Grade Parade and am totally loving her room. I am going there for a lot of inspiration! I spent a good part of the day yesterday making a pennant style banner for my big bulletin board, and I am SUPER excited about it! I can't wait to show you!
Moving on, I just wanted to share the goodies I picked up this week from Target and Michaels! Michaels offers a 15% teacher discount, which is awesome. All you have to do is show them your teacher ID!
Here is what I got from Michaels:
These came in a pack of four, and were the natural cork board. I went ahead and spray painted them. I LOVE the gold, but promptly ran out of paint. I wanted to tie in some green, and I the pink just stands out! These came with sticky pads to adhere to the wall. I am not sure how well they will work, so I have the 3M picture hanger velcro thingys just in case. I figure I will hand two up in the room somewhere, and two behind my desk to hand documents and stuff.
This is a repositionable chalkboard. I haven't decided if I want to use it for word work, math, or as a teacher tool yet. Any good ideas?!
This stuff was all SO cheap! The paper was only $3, and it is all "school" themed. The cute clothespins, and stamps were only $.50 a piece, and the spray adhesive was like $3? You can't beat that. I love the Pom Pom strings, those came in at a whopping $.79 a piece. Excitement over here! I will probably put magnets on the backs of the clothespins to use on the board :)
Target Goodies!
The workbooks and magnets came out of the dollar zone. The workbooks can be used with dry erase markers (AWESOME!) and will be used in a center. The pennant boarder also came out of the dollar zone, and I LOVED it! I will find a home for it. And we can always use more highlighters! Life is more exciting with them! Didn't you know that? Kid doesn't want to write, give em' a highlighter! The streamers will be used as a scrunchy boarder that I cannot wait to put up!
What kind of fun things have you gotten for your room? Any go-to blogs for inspiration?!
