Pencil Management

Hey Everyone!
Today I'm here to talk about everyone's favorite thing, and what they DON'T teach you in college... pencil management. At first I was all like, I will just put these nice sharp pencils in a bucket and let the kids choose when they will get new pencils. They can be responsible. They can make an educated decision on when they need a new pencil. I just have to show them. Then I found myself sharpening pencils ALL THE TIME. After a short couple of hours all of the sharpened pencils were gone, and I had a basket full of broken/slightly not sharp pencils.

What was a teacher to do?

BTS Classroom Decor!

Hi! I'll make this quick! :)
While in my room today I kept finding myself making all of these things because:
A. I wanted to do it last year but never got around to it.
B. I was avoiding writing a paper.
C. REALLY avoiding that paper.
D. I was the only person in the building- HELLO copy machine and color printer!
So here it is! All of these things can currently be seen hanging in my classroom! :)

NEW Freebies!

Hi Ya'll!
Only a couple more weeks of summer left for me, which has put me in high to gear up for the school year. I also have a paper to write for grad school, so obviously I am doing other things. HA! I have TWO new freebies in my TpT store right now! I may bundle them together and sell them as a pack eventually, but for now, grab them for FREE!

The first one I made are these cute book basket labels. I went all year last year with NO labels on the bins, so none of the kids knew where to put the books when they were done, so my library was a DISASTER! Now, at least they have labels so the kiddos can try and put them back where they belong.
I made them A-Z and a few for category books! I just printed in color, laminated, trimmed, hole punched, and used ribbon to hang on the baskets. I would show you them in my room, but that would be ruining the surprise when I do my classroom reveal! I can't waiiiitttttttt for that!!!

Bundled in with the Book Basket Labels, I have my Word Wall Letters! They are *SO* cute! I had owl letters last year, and they kept falling off and getting swept up by the custodians, so I am now missing several letters. haha. I knew it was time to make new ones. I am also kinda over the whole owl thing. I have gotten rid of so much owl stuff.

These letters are bundled WITH the book basket labels HERE! :)

I also made a new behavior chart. The one I used last year is really beat up. For whatever reason I didn't use card stock, but just printed it on regular paper and laminated. Obviously that won't work for more than one year. I went ahead and made a new one- just to fit my room a little bit better. This chart is also available for a FREE download on my TpT store too!

Check these out in my shop, HERE for FREE!!!
It would also be really awesome if you'd follow my shop too! :) Happy Freebies!

PS- I can't wait to do my classroom reveal. It's coming together SO well! :)

Weekly Link Up: My Favorite Picture

I am once again linking up with I Heart Grade 3 for her weekly link up! This week the theme is you favorite picture.
My favorite picture is one from our wedding. It was truly a magical day, and one I cherish. I was so excited to continue our journey together. I was also in the best shape of my life, had super long beautiful hair, and had the most beautiful gown that I have ever worn on. That helps. HA! Without further ado, here is my favorite picture:
This just encapsulates us as a couple. It was dusk, and everyone was dancing and our photographer pulled us outside to catch a few last minute photos, and this was one of them. It is my absolute favorite.
So there it is, what is your favorite picture? Be sure to link up with I Heart Grade 3 on her blog!

Weekly Link Up: The Best Trip of my Life

I am linking up with I Heart Grade 3 for her Weekly Link Up! This week's topic is The best trip of my life.

Now I have been on some awesome trips. When I was young my aunt and uncle would take my sister and I all over the country. I had seen close to half the states by the time I was 10. As I got older, the trips lessened, but then I met Tom. And he loves to travel. We have been on some awesome vacations. One year we went to Vegas for a full five days, which was amazing. For our honey moon we went to Hawaii, and then last summer we went to Lake Tahoe. This summer we went to Maine and saw Acadia National Park. All of which were awesome. I would have to say that South Lake Tahoe was probably the coolest vacation we have been on.
We went hiking, kayaking, drove and visited Yosemite, (we have a goal to visit all of the National Parks in the continental US), got stuck in a forest fire, and saw forests you would only see in a movie. It was a fantastic trip, and I would do it all again in a heartbeat!

For trail we decided to do for some ungodly reason you had to have a day permit that was recorded, so they would know if you went missing.

Can we go back?

A few days ago I decided to do a giveaway for one of my newest products! It is a Back to School writing journal perfect for first and second grade students. It comes with sentence starters, and room to draw. It's a great way to get to know your kiddos at the beginning of the year!

The lucky winners are Melissa Mize and Meenal Parikh! I have already emailed them the product! I am so excited about this journal, and cannot wait to use it in my classroom. I used a similar model that changed throughout the year last year, and boy did I see improvement! You can learn more about this product HERE in a past blog post! There is even a video of me modeling how to use this journal!
Congrats to the winners! Whoohoo! I cannot wait to hold another giveaway!

Five for Friday!

Today I am linking up with Doodlebugs for Five for Friday!

Five for Friday is a weekly teacher linky party where you post five random things from today or this past week on your blog. Happy Weekend!

So for some ungodly reason I decided to move classrooms. We had some movement in my building that resulted in us losing some amazing teachers, but also resulted in me getting the chance to move to a bigger classroom. I thought it was a great idea at the time, but now that I have started moving, UGH! All those files are SO heavy. I should really know better than to keep paper copies of files, but I can't help it! So today I moved my cabinets, but have yet to move all the stuff on the walls and the remainder of the items around. Here is my progress today!

Still so much to do!

Sooo... you wanna talk about how awesome Periscope is? I have loved getting to know Schroeder Shenanigans and Little Lucky Learners and their excitement about the TpT Conference and what's coming in the future. Back to School Question of the Day Giveaway!

In honor of the middle of July, the TpT Conference (#notinVegas), and overall being very motivated and not really having whole lot to do besides walk my dog and workout, I am giving away 2 FREE copies of my newest edition to my Back to School Question of the Day Writing Journal. This journal is a great way to get to know your students, and learn about their writing abilities! I know I will be putting at least one page in each student's writing portfolio to compare at the end of the year. This will also be great to monitor writing progress, and to use at those beginning of the year parent teacher conferences. Overall, I am super excited about them! If you want to learn more about them, click here or on the picture below to see my post featuring this journal!

Enter the Rafflecopter below to win! Contest ends Saturday July 11 at midnight!
Thanks and Good Luck!

Five Years Ago: Weekly Summer Link Up

Here I am, still #notinvegas but I am linking up with I Heart Grade 3 for her Weekly Summer Link Up! I haven't linked up with Monica before, so I am super jazzed!

This week's topic is Where I Was 5 Years Ago.
The Year: 2010
Age: 21
As you can guess by my age, summer 2010 was a big one for me. I was celebrating my 21st birthday! That summer The Hubs (who was not The Hubs then) and I went to Las Vegas! Tom had never been and we had the perfect excuse. We spent five lovely days walking the strip, learning new card games, and lounging by the pool. It was a good one! In March of 2010 Tom had proposed, so everyone thought we were going to come back hitched!
I was heading into my final semester student teaching, and Tom was finishing up school in Cincinnati. That summer I had an amazing job with the Toledo Zoo as an Outreach Presenter, so I have very fond memories of that summer!
Sadly, I really don't have any pictures from that summer! I have changed computers, cell phone, and cameras since then, so I am not too surprised. Here is what I do have:

Where were you just five short years ago? I'd love to know! Link up with I Heart Grade 3, and then leave your link in the comments here too!

TpT Seller Challenge: Week 4!

I am linking up with Sparkling in Second, Third in Hollywood, Teach Create Motivate, and Peppy Zesty Teacherista for the fourth and final TpT Seller Challenge. During the past four weeks I didn't really connect with anyone ( I know, I know), but I did learn about some awesome resources, and other teacher blogs. I was also really motivated to get to work. I have completed more products, and put more effort into my blog and TpT store than I ever have. I have noticed an increase in traffic to my blog, and I hope through that traffic I am helping others. I know I have learned a lot!

One resource I learned about it Bloglovin'. I am able to follow all of my favorites and have them all on one *pretty* feed. You can follow me on Bloglovin' here: Follow

I also reached out to so many other teachers, and read SO many more blogs than I have in the past. I linked up with other teachers, which is something I have never done, but each day I am eager to check and find more!
I linked up with Hailey at The Third Grade Nest for a monthly Top 10 List. This month it was TV shows, check out my post for some awesome new ones!
I also linked up with Schroeder Shenanigans in 2nd for the #2getherwearebetter challenge, this month displaying some things in our rooms that we would like to improve, check out my post HERE.
Schroeder Shenanigans In 2nd

And the third linky party that I participated in was Currently, with Oh Boy 4th grade. This was a really fun one because it was so much more than teaching. I also "got to know" other teachers by reading their blog posts. Check out my Currently HERE
I also found some blogs that I LOVE! Here are a few of them!
Photobucket
Peppy Zesty Teacherista
Living the First Grade Dream
Photobucket
School and the City
Rowdy in First Grade
Inspired to the Core

Check them out for some in class inspiration! In the meantime, I have a to do list the length of the Las Vegas Strip to get done (#notinvegas)!
