As I was waking up this morning, I knew I needed to write a blog post. It's been 18 long days since my last one, and well, it is time. But I just kept thinking, what the heck am I going to write about? It's been a while since I have made any new products, and I am SO busy with school and grad school I haven't taken a moment to breath, or put together ideas for a blog post. Then I decided that I would post about all the awesome things we are doing in room 205!
We can now use SeeSaw like a boss. My kiddos LOVE SeeSaw. They are able to upload their work to their portfolio, share it with their classmates, and share it with their parents. Parents get notified whenever their child uploads something.
I have already heard rave reviews from parents, and it was so easy to use and introduce I don't know why we didn't use it sooner!
My students even got to show their Grandparents how to use SeeSaw on our Grandparent's Day event recently!
For the Grandparent's Day event we wrote about why our grandparents are special, and then we made these super cute little bookmarks together!! If anyone is interested, I can upload the format for the bookmarks for Free!
Seriously, HOW CUTE!
We have also been working really hard on our informational writing skills. We have learned about elephants, giraffes, and now tigers! We use a 4 square writing model, which I have a had a lot of success with in the classroom. I do A LOT of modeling and think alouds, and I have noticed a huge amount of growth in my kiddos writing!
First we read, read, read, and maybe watch a video about the topic, then we fill out an are/have/can/fun fact anchor chart. The kiddos then fill out their own graphic organizer, then we move into the four square part, and then the final copy. It's a long tedious process, but it works! Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the four square, but maybe sometime I will. Here is a video of me teaching writing from last year if you want to check it out:
In this video I am using my Question of the Day packets that you can find in my TpT store HERE which you can get for $4.25 right now!
We have also been rocking our AR quizzes!
Our librarian does this big March Madness read-a-thon type thing, where she has a big chart and we keep track of which class reads and takes the most quizzes. It's fun and motivating for the kids!
We have also been doing all sorts of sorts, which I of course do not have ANY pictures of! We are FINALLY learning silent E, so we have been sorting our long and short vowel hearts out. You can check out some of the sorts I have made in my TpT Store (which is all ON SALE! right now!)
Thanks for checking in with me! How is your spring going? I know with all the testing it's hard to let the kids be kids, but all of that will be behind us soon enough, and then the real end of the year fun stuff can begin!!!
